Buying second hand is one of the easiest and most impactful steps you can take to reduce your carbon footprint.

How come? Buying second hand immediately prevents large amounts of carbon reaching the atmosphere, that would normally be produced in manufacture. On top of this, every second hand purchase helps combat the growing problem of e-waste, where products that work perfectly well get thrown away!

sift isn’t going to solve the climate crisis on its own, but every purchase makes a difference.

As a company born out of the wonders of the internet, we know the power of data, but we also know how much our individual privacy matters. So it is only fair we explain exactly what data we use, and what we use it for.

sift works by finding you the best second hand tech, based off what you’ve told us your preferences and priorities are. We learn what these priorities are over lots of users, and how they change for different products. We can then do some serious analysis, make a few changes off what we find out, and make sift better for everyone who uses it!

And that’s it. We always want to be as clear and transparent with you as possible; data for us is seen as a great way to improve sift, not something we can profit off.
